It has helped fracture the UK to an almost irreparable degree. Remain voters feel angry and betrayed by Leave voters, Leave voters are angry that Brexit took so long and has not been a rousing success. It is a gift for the far right for exploiting people, while also being a gift for anyone who fears the working class rising up in unity in protest.

Around the time I was graduating from uni and got into reddit i remember an askreddit thread of roughly the question ‘what conspiracy do you think might be true?’ Then an answer that essentially suggested there might be some kind of paedo ring in the upper echelons of society. Post Savile, didn’t seem that ridiculous. Turns out that group had way more influence than I felt was rational to credit to them.
