  1. On his P’s (going so fast they came off, so copped a fine for not displaying them too)
Also copped a fine for a defective vehicle.

17, had his licence 2 months driving a 2ltr+ engine.

They really need to bring in some sort of engine/performance limits for P’s

Need a plucky little shitbox that will shake your teeth at 110, and take 5 mins to get up to speed.

  2. Ffs throw him in the bloody slammer for a couple of nights as well.

‘you’ve been driving recklessly, possibly endangering other lives as well as your own, but cause you’re still a few months from being 18 we are going to tell on you and call your mummy’.

Really think he’s going to learn much from the consequences of these actions?

The parent’s wont answer cause they’re paranoid junkies that haven’t slept for 6 days and will see an unknown number on the screen then run away to the other room until it stops ringing.

Given the teen would probably be unable to drive given their licence would be automatically suspended or their car impounded. It sounds like a good idea to call the parents

  5. “His licence was suspended for six months and he lost eight demerit points. “

Usual substandard journalism from the ABC. You accumulate demerit points. Not lose them.

  6. I’m not a massive fan of cops, but these two guys guys were being very respectful and I think the way they went about talking to him was actually really good. Hopefully he learns from it.

Youths really do think they are invincible until they find out they are not.

At least time it was stopped before another faimly was broken apart.

  8. I’m a P plater, my parents line of work means I was lucky enough (and will be forever indebted for) to have a nice car bought for me that in terms of power is near the threshold of illegal for Ps (yes, I tell my friends I bought it in cash). I have never driven the car inappropriately, I sit around 98 cruise control on the highway, often beeped at at lights for being slow off the take off, mirror indicate and shoulder check every single time I have to merge into lanes, I’ve lost track of the amount of times the Ps in their patrols are up me flashing their high beams. Now, my input into this topic obviously isn’t gonna be valued as much, I don’t have kids that are at stake, nor property or assets such as a shop, or the general experience on the roads. Regardless, my reason for opening like that is to say it doesn’t always come down to the car. I went to a GPS school, there was 1000% no education on road rules, no courses or modules were held, no police came in or anything like it. This is understandable as the environment I was in is totally different to what you would find at the state high school in the vicinity, the standards and expectations were different. I don’t know how to fully express what I’m trying to say without seeming classist and disrespectful, but if this was the case at my school, I can’t imagine how high the education would of been at schools where kids are playing “catch up” because of so many different factors such as affluence and opportunity. Now, reading this back I understand if I sound like THAT wanker 18 year old, but what I’m trying to say is there is so much more education that could be done by parents, schools, instructors etc. I started my prep Ls (the program that allows you to get your learners) on Jan the 9th and finished on Feb 26th, failing roughly 30 times in there – that is dangerous as I went onto my Ls without actual knowledge of the roads. I mean, my dad just sat next to me and scrolled facebook or had a nap literally with under 20 hours on the roads. As for prep Ls It should be a fail 3 times you must take them in person system, if you continue to fail you gotta sit in a class with others and be taught, or something like that. My driving instructor cost my parents (probably some reading this have kids my age, so you guys) north of 700 bucks, and she just sat and had a yarn with me for 2 hours every lesson about how her and her daughters house reno was going, that is a fully trained and licensed professional. Now, onto my actual driving test instructor, about halfway through the nerves got to me, I forgot to indicate into the turning lane at traffic light, a critical error and an instant fail, he no joke turns to me and said “It’s fine no worries just keep driving”, now they aren’t meant to talk at all, regardless this leads me to thinking I’ve failed (I really needed my license) and for the rest of the drive I’m just shaky a little, and my road positing is off etc etc, I passed with 0 minors. Anyways, I don’t know where I’m going, I suppose I know what I’m trying to say, I hope you guys can understand me and see where I’m coming from. Now this isn’t an excuse for the subject in the article, fuck that cunt. Crush his car and turn into tins for pineapples for all I care, honestly what a wanker, is all I have to say. Shouldn’t have his license until he’s eligible for opens. 100000% tighten up laws on power, and also enforce them harder. Size of the car aswell please, some of if not most of the provisional Ute drivers should not be allowed to have a car that size. But also, we can go deeper and educate much further in places where kids don’t have access to that other, correct view and can’t understand just how important their behaviour on the road is. I hope everyone can appreciate what I’m trying to say.

  9. And then people who kill children in hit-and-run incidents get off with a slap on the wrist
