It seems that on virtually every deadline day of every transfer window, Bayern Munich loan out a talented youngster. In the 2026’s January transfer window, Felipe Chávez was this talented youngster, using some notable appearances for the Bayern first team to call attention to himself and get himself a move to fellow Bundesliga club FC Köln.
But Köln sporting director Thomas Kessler revealed that it is his overall qualities, and belief in his ability to ascend to the level needed in the Bundesliga, that were the true basis of his move to the newly promoted side.

“We are overjoyed to convince Felipe of our sporting perspective. He has a very interesting profile, has developed greatly at Bayern and has the highest footballing capabilities,” Kessler said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER. “With qualities going forward we have added more variety to our midfield. We are convinced that we can give him the right conditions to bring out the best in him and continue his development. The goal is to lead him, step by step, to the level of the Bundesliga and give him the basis to establish himself on that level on a consistent basis.”
Bayern will hope Köln will do this as well, given they have the ability to bring the player back. If the Peruvian international develops well, there exists the possibility that he can yet break into the Bayern first team.
