Altruistic-Unit485 on February 4, 2026 2:47 am I’m sure there is some deep symbolism here that is going right over my head…
yolk3d on February 4, 2026 3:17 am Ah yes, the dreams of owning a house, floating away from the slaving middle-aged renter couple.
Dollbeau on February 4, 2026 3:41 am I had to verify what street we are looking at, it’s changed so much since I was last there (not that long ago).
heeloliver on February 4, 2026 3:58 am It’s by Fintan Magee (https://fintanmagee.com/about). He’s done many murals around Sydney.
Ted_Rid on February 4, 2026 4:03 am Artist is Fintan Magee. Has at least 4 similarly large and surrealistically symbolic murals around Newtown. Shame a crepe myrtle is now mostly obscuring the one on Albermarle St. That was apparently a local girl. Praying mantises not known if local or not. Here’s more of his work: https://fintanmagee.com/murals Edit: here’s Albermarle St when you could still see it properly: https://artout.live/newtown/albermarle-street-art/

fuuuuuckendoobs on February 4, 2026 7:54 am It’s literally called “Housing bubble” and it’s been there for over 10 years. https://www.innerwest.nsw.gov.au/live/living-arts/perfect-match-street-art/audio-descriptions/housing-bubble
