75 US congressmen have sent a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, expressing their concern regarding the administration’s decision to suspend immigration visas for 75 countries, including Kosovo and Albania.

In the letter to Rubio, the congressmen described the decision as “scandalous and discriminatory,” noting that it affects about 40% of the world’s countries and could affect almost half of legal immigrants in the United States.

According to them, the suspension will directly hit family reunification, employer-sponsored visas, the diversity program, religious organizations and small businesses.

“This is a scandalous and discriminatory decision by your administration, which affects hundreds of thousands of people every year.”

“He was announced not only through a Twitter post, but without providing any detailed information on the suspension,” the congressmen’s letter states.

They warned that the visa suspension policy would separate families, hinder the integration of legal immigrants, and have negative social and economic consequences for American voters.

The list of affected countries includes a wide range of states from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, including Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Iran, Brazil, Cuba and many more.

Congressmen are demanding that the US administration review the decision and take measures to prevent families from being separated and to preserve immigrants’ legal opportunities to live and work in the US.

Secretary Rubio’s decision has already caused numerous reactions in the international communities and the Albanian diaspora, who warn that the suspension of visas will have a direct impact on family reunification and the economic activity of immigrants./Telegrafi.
