I remember when the Washington Post was a respected institution. I feel bad for the actual journalists left there who are trying to keep it from completely turning into a rag controlled by a spineless billionaire who got lucky a quarter century ago.

Eliminating the international desk to focus on national politics suggests their planning to turn the *Post* into *Der Angriff*.

Gotta pay for the Melania bribe somehow.

The casual international news coverage in the US is already piss-poor.There’s some good stuff in the New York Times but I wonder how many clicks it gets. Most people in the US don’t care and anyway they wouldn’t be able to point the country in question on a map.
But hey, Number One!

This is what happens when 1. You alienate the bulk of your readers by capitulating to MAGA bullying, and 2. You capitulate to MAGA bullying.

Can someone prepare me a list of major American news outlets that were compromised in this or the past administration? Bezos’ Washington Post, CBS, ABC with the Jimmy Kimmel what else?

Bezos removes the “in the darkness” part…standing over lady liberty with a knife.

Rich people buying out institutions and then breaking them shouldn’t be allowed. Bezos could float them with the dividends he makes taking a shit.

Well Bezos can’t be expected to bribe a president via the worst movie ever made *and* protect ‘democracy from darkness’ now can he?

Journalism never fared well under fascists. Somehow they don’t like people knowing the truth.

Impressive that they managed to write an article about the Washington Post layoffs without mentioning how their readership and subscriptions have absolutely cratered in the last few years. As if the two might somehow be vaguely related…
