“He does not have the luxury of stepping down or distancing himself. We expect him to be prime minister,” Vučević said.
The president of the Serbian Progressive Party and advisor to the head of state, Miloš Vučević, said that after the upcoming parliamentary elections in Serbia, he expects President Aleksandar Vučić to take the post of prime minister.
“I can’t say that I agreed with all of his decisions at every moment, but he has proven that he knows what he is doing – this shows who a true statesman is. It is unrealistic to expect him to be less involved in politics, but I believe that Aleksandar Vučić still has energy and knowledge. It would be a great loss to waste such capital – he does not have the luxury of retiring or distancing himself. We expect him to become prime minister,” said Vučević.
He argues that when the so-called “blockers” of the regime accused their own country of killing its citizens, it became clear that President Vučić had acted correctly. “We had different positions, but I believe that he assessed the development of events well and made the right moves. Time has shown that the decisions were measured and have yielded concrete results. I am convinced that citizens see this and will appreciate what has been done,” Vučević added in an interview with Informer TV.
Vucic resigned as Serbia’s prime minister in January last year after a brutal beating of students who were attacked with clubs by youths from the ruling Serbian Progressive Party in Novi Sad. | BGNES
