Nueva Vulcano is a rock band formed in Barcelona in the early 2000s by Artur Estrada (vocals and guitar), Wences Aparicio (bass) and Albert Guàrdia (drums). The group emerged after the previous activity of its members in the Catalan alternative scene and from the beginning they published their works on independent labels, especially BCore Disc and La Castanya, maintaining constant activity within the Spanish rock circuit.

Their style lies between alternative rock, emo and indie rock, with influences from post-hardcore and American rock from the 1990s, especially the Washington, DC hardcore scene. The songs are characterized by the use of direct electric guitars, rock band structures and narrative lyrics focused on everyday experiences, personal memory and political criticism.

The first album, Main First (2004), was considered a debut that defined the group’s initial sound. with an identity still in formation, being today a cult album. Entropic game (2005) consolidated his proposal of direct guitars and structured songs within alternative rock. But it is with The colorful fish (2009), where they had critical success and is considered one of their most complete works, with more melodic and direct songs that expanded their recognition, to the point of being an album that has influenced numerous bands, especially Cala Vento. In the following decade they published Novels (2015), an album received as a coherent continuation of his style, with asymmetric melodies and more refined guitars and a more pop style. Rehearsal (2020), valued as a mature work that maintains the group’s guitar strength while introducing more critical and reflective lyrics about their generational environment, and their latest album to date.

Due to its trajectory and influence, Nueva Vulcano is considered one of the stable bands of Spanish independent rock that emerged in the 2000s.
