Four Romanian athletes are set to compete on Sunday, the second day of competition at the Winter Olympic Games Milano-Cortina 2026. The Romanian delegation enters events in cross-country skiing and luge, marking an active presence across multiple winter disciplines.

In cross-country skiing, Gabriel Cojocaru and Paul Pepene will take part in the 10 km + 10 km skiathlon, scheduled to start at 13:30. Later in the day, Eduard Crăciun and Valentin Creţu will race in the third and fourth runs of the men’s singles luge competition, beginning at 18:00.

Romania has 28 athletes across nine disciplines

Romania participates in this edition of the Winter Olympic Games with a delegation of 28 athletes and one reserve, competing in nine sports. The national team reflects a broad distribution across both endurance and technical events, from biathlon and alpine skiing to snowboard and figure skating.

The biathlon squad includes six athletes competing in Anterselva, supported by a mixed coaching staff for both men’s and women’s teams. In bobsleigh, four male athletes and one reserve represent Romania in Cortina, guided by an experienced technical team.

Figure skating features Julia Sauter as the country’s sole representative in Milan, while the luge team counts seven athletes divided between women’s and men’s categories. Ski jumping brings together four competitors in Predazzo, and alpine skiing fields two athletes split between the women’s and men’s races hosted in Cortina and Bormio.

Cross-country skiing adds three athletes to the national roster, including Delia Reit alongside Paul Pepene and Gabriel Cojocaru. The snowboard team completes the delegation with two female athletes competing in Livigno.

Broad representation highlights development of winter sports

Romania’s participation across nine disciplines underlines a sustained effort to strengthen winter sports performance and visibility on the international stage. The presence of athletes in both individual and team events offers consistent exposure throughout the competition calendar and creates opportunities for experience at elite level.

Sunday’s competitions continue the Romanian Olympic journey in Milano-Cortina, with cross-country skiing and luge setting the tone for the days ahead.
