Are you sure it’s not an Iced Coffee and an Iced Chocolate i.e. two drinks!!???
    Only way it makes sense….

It’s ridiculous but very standard now. They always half fill the cup with ice too.

Yes, it’s expensive for sure. I view buying drinks and meals at cafes etc as a luxury. You’re paying for the convenience. I would never buy anything like this unless it was a birthday treat or special occasion.

  4. 1 litre of UHT milk is $1.90 , 18 teaspoons of freeze dried coffee , quick shake and leave it in the fridge ( edit : use a funnel to get the coffee in )

  5. I love how a long black coffee (hot water and a shot) can be 6 dollars now. This is strong armed robbery. Let’s just brew at home!

Why is everyone only doing the maths on the product used? What about wages, rent, workcover, overheads?

  7. I thought I was in Malaysia for a moment. RM10.80 for iced coffee from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

  8. We have a 12 year old Nespresso machine and make iced coffees using that at home. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes, run a lungo shot of your favourite pod (we just grab a box or two from the supermarket), then top off with milk or a small scoop of ice cream. Takes like one minute. It’s the only thing we use the old Nespresso machine for. (We have a manual coffee machine to make proper coffees.)

What do they charge for a 12oz coffee? I charge 50c more than the hot 12oz latte price for an iced latte, which covers the ice and more expensive cup (which is also 16oz so even with the ice you’re getting the same amount of milk), but this feels absolutely wild. Should save this for next time somebody tells me off about my prices.

It’s not the cafes fault. Operating expenses sky rocket, they’re not a charity.

Interested to know what the breakdown of costs are tax and rate and wage increases. Rents are high in the CBD even though the number of people in the CBD has decreased.

Bought a cappuccino from a hole in the wall shop a few ago, They said they get annoyed by having to throw out food – milks aste became to they throw out a lot of milk because they have to stock so many varieties (rice, soya, oat, along and dairy full cream, light, lactose free, A2,..)

  12. They charge what people will pay. This isn’t an essential product, if people stopped choosing to pay for these things at these prices, they’d stop charging such prices.

Instead, people complain about the price, buy it anyway, and then wonder why the cost keeps going up. (Hint: it’s because you keep paying no matter what they charge (not necessarily you, OP, unless you do))

  13. Yeah, this summer I’ve noted the prices sky rocketed.

I do enjoy an oat milk iced! But at home they cost $1.25 in materials

  14. Business has “health” in the name so they’re justified with the 300% price increase /s

  15. Love how it’s a social norm that filling 3/4 of a cup with ice makes it twice the price of the same drink without it

I’m in Perth & ordered an iced coffee with oat milk (lactose intolerant) & they charged $13. Needless to say, I didn’t buy it.
