These are exactly the sort of places that should become high density housing, right next to high frequency public transport.

😭😭 How can affordable housing be completely dismissed?!

We have many train stations with low density around them. These should all be zoned up and encourage lot owners to band together to sell off 2-6 at a time into consolidated properties. Need to bring back the 6-12 pack blocks

“Councillor Adam Allan said affordable housing targets would make development less financially viable for developers.”
Housing is at the highest price it has ever been in the history of Brisbane.
I suspect developers are doing ok.

Build them and they will come…. and cause more congestion. Fix the roads first ffs

Good, get on with it.

I always thought Garbo could be Brisbanes ‘Century City’ kind of place. If only the Olympics would spur a new train line or two. A line could come underground from Clapham yard.. Griffith uni, Sunnybank, Garbo then out to Capalaba.
Brisbane has to build up not out and has to prioritise public transport projects… but fat chance under this guvmint.

this is based
we need more and cheaper housing close to public transport
someone suggested trains, every existing train station should also be made into high density housing

I grew up around the Chermside area in the 60/70s,the place is just un-recognizable to me now.

Fantastic. The immediate areas around every bus station, train station and tram station should be zoned as high density, with the surrounding areas zoned as medium density with public transport linking the medium density zones to the stations.

Chermside was always going to expand out from the high rises already there

Makes sense, but traffic is already fucked as it is. Without infrastructure upgrades, travel will be torture.

If I live in a house in the red zoned area, is this bad news for me?

Where was the consultation on this?

“If you choose to layer on condition after condition to developments, it just doesn’t get built.”
Such a lazy attitude. We get treated with disdain by the LNP for wanting the most basic qualities in town planning and developments.

So is this development going to happen before or after the Olympics?
Are the tradies who are going to be on-site building Olympic venues also going to build the housing?
Clearly, it’s going to be worthwhile being a tradie of some sort in the next few years.
