A 4.6 magnitude earthquake has struck Kosovo, with its epicenter in Prevalle. The tremors were felt in several countries in the region, including Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania.

Seismologist Shemsi Mustafa provided details about this earthquake, adding that it was noticeably felt by the citizens of Kosovo.

Earthquakes in the Prizren-Shtërpcë area

Based on the Seismological Network, the Kosovo Geological Survey and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismic Center, as well as the numerical analysis of the seismic event data, on 10/02/2026 at 22:09 local time, the Territory of Kosovo (Southeastern area of ​​Kosovo) was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale, respectively with an intensity of VI on the Mercalli scale.

The hypocenter depth was 5 km.

The epicenter of this earthquake was (Location with Geographical coordinates; 42.144; 20.985)

23 km East of Prizren

The earthquake in question was clearly felt by the citizens of Kosovo. This seismicity had the potential to endanger citizens and cause some material damage due to the force above, at the same time these earthquakes testify to the seismogenic zone of Prizren, which is an active zone, as well as according to the calculations and studies presented with the Seismic Hazard Map for Kosovo.
