  1. It’s inevitable. Stronger and much cheaper. The way to lower energy costs for both citizens and industry and be competitive on the world stage.

  2. So while France is blocking more connections with Spain, Macron wants a single European energy market and the construction of an integrated electricity grid. Incoherent to say the least.

  3. Please just make Macron the head of the commission once he’s done. He’s better at European politics than at French. Von Der Leyen did a good job but her recent US bootlicking has shown she isn’t suited for the job anymore

  4. Then France should take a first step and stop blocking interconnections from Spain into their grid.

  5. Not happy about the germans driving up the swedish energy prices even more than they already do

    Seriously it’s messed up

  6. Is this not the guy that refuses connections from Spain to sell the energy of it’s nuclear plants?

  7. Very funny after being France for many years avoiding a proper connection between the Iberian and European grid. B*tch please…

This is an excellent idea. Many transmission lines already, but just like in other aspects of the unified market, weird local rules and market distortions. Big task.

What does he mean? The physical grid is already a single one. A single energy price for the entire EU would be stupid. Hell, we in Germany are discussing splitting our single price zone into several to optimize pricing. So what does he mean? Serious question.

Does that mean France is finally open to further integrate with the Energy grids in the Iberia Peninsula?

  11. Will he accept full interconnection with Spain now that Spain has very cheap energy due to renewals?

  12. Has Russia taught you nothing? You need a distributed grid. Small microgrids. If you make a centralized grid, any major node is vulnerable to drone attack.

Who is going to run it? Cause i know quite i few countries that absolutely shouldn’t

  14. What does he even mean by that. Physically, it is basically one grid at this point, only I think the Nordics and the British isles aren’t permanently connected. Economically there already are trade mechanisms between the countries as well as international redisbatch etc. Does he want a singular price zone for all of Europe? That would be fucking horrendous. If any area has a spike in price for any reason it would increase the price everywhere. Let’s not even talk about how that would rile up average prices (See: Germany (Fuck the CSU btw)).

ehm? We already have single integrated energy grid. Is he talking about expanding the capacity of interconnectors?

So he wants more interconnections between countries or what exactly is he proposing? The “article” isnt much more than the headline itself.

  17. As an Irishman, I hope this happens sooner or later. We are getting absolutely f’d here with electricity prices

Does that mean total EU ownership of the grid and supply? I lived in northern Sweden where electricity was cheap but grid fees were making my bills higher than anywhere else I’ve lived in europe for the same consumption. All just so my money can go into subsidizing data centers and a the grid being able to send power down to the continent
