Following Velika Gorica, Osijek and Vinkovci, geothermal potential has now also been confirmed in Zaprešić, thus the Agency concludes its exploration activities at all designated sites with a 100 per cent success rate. The results confirm the potential for developing district heating systems.
Temperatures above 100°C were detected in the Velika Gorica and Osijek areas, while a record temperature of 131°C was measured at a depth of 2,700 metres in the Vinkovci area. In Zaprešić, despite the highest exploration risk, a stable reservoir at over 95°C was confirmed.
“The result in Zaprešić does not merely mark the conclusion of one cycle, it also proves the full operational capability of the Hydrocarbon Agency in the field, as well as our ability to turn the vision of the energy transition into reality,” said Marijan Krpan, Chairman of the Management Board of the Hydrocarbon Agency. “Four positive drilling results out of four explored sites prove that Croatia not only has rich underground resources, but also the expertise to locate them.”
