Two crew members evacuated from vessel off Malta’s coast

Two crew members on a vessel within Malta’s search-and-rescue area were medically evacuated by the Armed Forces of Malta on Friday.

The operation was coordinated by the Malta Rescue Coordination Centre, with an AFM helicopter sent to bring the two crew members to safety.

While adverse weather out at sea made rescue conditions particularly challenging, the airlift of the two crew members occurred without any incident.

The two were subsequently transferred to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

The AFM urged the public to take note of inclement weather notices from the authorities, and to avoid venturing near or out at sea when such warnings are issued.
