The ice conditions in the Estonian sea area are becoming more and more difficult every day. All three icebreakers in use by the State Navy are actively working.

❄️ Icebreaker Tarmo currently covers the entire Gulf of Finland region. ❄️ Today, the most difficult ice conditions are in the Livonian Gulf, where nearly 20 ships are stuck in the ice. ❄️ Yesterday, Botnica moved from the Tallinn region to the Gulf of Livonia to assist cargo ships moving towards Pärnu. ❄️ EVA-316 operates around the clock in Pärnu Bay. ❄️ The Latvian icebreaker Varma, which is the 58-year-old sister ship of the icebreaker Tarmo, is on duty in the Gulf of Livonia for the second week. ❄️ Ice conditions are constantly changing. Estonia’s icebreaking works and ship traffic are coordinated by the Estonian Transport Board, directing icebreakers to help where the need is most pressing at the moment.
