The Institute for Education Malta has officially launched its Strategic Plan for 2026-2030, outlining its long-term vision to strengthen professional learning, enhance educational practice, and support professions contributing to children’s holistic development.

The launch was addressed by Clifton Grima, who described education as central to Malta’s long-term national vision and a key driver of social cohesion, sustainable prosperity, and intergenerational equity.

The Minister explained that the plan builds on the previous 2021-2030 strategy and aligns with the National Education Strategy 2024-2030, Malta Vision 2050, and international approaches developed in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Developed through an extensive consultation process, the strategy is structured around four pillars: strengthening professional capacity, advancing research and innovation in practice, expanding partnerships and networks, and ensuring sustainable organisational growth and governance.

Chief Executive Officer Joanne Grima said the plan serves as both a statement of intent and a practical roadmap, positioning the Institute as a catalyst for innovation and system-wide improvement.

The strategy places strong emphasis on ethical and digital competence, sustainability, and international engagement, with the overall aim of developing a resilient, future-ready education system that benefits students, professionals, and society as a whole.
