He rejected suggestions that his 2012 election defeat stemmed primarily from disagreements with then-German Chancellor Angela Merkel over Kosovo.
Former Serbian president Boris Tadic has claimed that the current ruling structure in Serbia was established following a conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former Serbian president Tomislav Nikolic, arguing that it is the only government in Serbia’s history formed entirely outside the country.
In an interview with Radar, Tadic said the government was shaped in line with German and Russian interests rather than Serbian ones, describing it as a “truly treacherous” administration based on the interests of foreign powers.
He rejected suggestions that his 2012 election defeat stemmed primarily from disagreements with then-German Chancellor Angela Merkel over Kosovo, saying the broader issue concerned the defense of Serbia’s sovereignty and international law. According to Tadic, congratulating Nikolic on his victory before polls had closed indicated prior commitments to the EU and Washington.
Tadic also alleged that his loss was influenced by pressure from oligarchs, criminal networks and foreign actors, and claimed that subsequent governments continued to benefit from similar mechanisms that, in his view, undermined Serbia’s democratic process. | BGNES
