Minor Hotels expands its global operations by signing two new resorts on Europe’s Adriatic coast. The resorts in Slovenia and Croatia represent the company’s first venture into both countries, which enables it to expand its presence in Europe’s top resort locations. The two properties which operate under the Anantara and Minor Reserve Collection brands will undergo major refurbishments that will lead to their reopening in early 2027.
New Additions to Minor Hotels’ Portfolio: Slovenia and Croatia Debuts
On 12 February 2026, Minor Hotels signed a management agreement with MK Group to oversee two exceptional resorts in Portorož (Slovenia) and Savudrija (Croatia), marking the company’s entry into both new countries. The two properties will reopen in late March 2026 for the season before undergoing renovations, rebranding and relaunching under the Anantara and Minor Reserve Collection flags by Q1 2027.
With a growing demand for high-end resorts in the Mediterranean, Minor Hotels’ expansion is strategically positioned to capture the rising interest in wellness, gastronomy, and luxury travel. Slovenia’s Portorož is known for its sustainable tourism leadership and rich wellness heritage, while Croatia’s Istrian Peninsula has emerged as a leading destination for nature lovers, food enthusiasts, and luxury seekers. The resorts will cater to travellers seeking an unforgettable experience in these stunning coastal locations.
Hotel Palace Portorož: Slovenia’s Luxury Wellness Escape
Located in the tranquil town of Portorož, Slovenia’s well-known beach resort, the Hotel Palace Portorož offers 183 luxury rooms, combining contemporary design with Slovenia’s wellness traditions. Guests can enjoy multiple dining options, including three restaurants and three bars, a full-service spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and a dedicated MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and events) area. With beach access, this property will offer a well-rounded experience for both leisure and business travellers.
Once its extensive refurbishment is completed, Hotel Palace Portorož will be relaunched as Hotel Palace Portorož, Minor Reserve Collection Slovenia. This will further enhance the destination’s reputation for wellness tourism, offering personalised luxury with a focus on authentic, transformative experiences. The relaunch, expected in Q1 2027, will position the property as an exclusive retreat for discerning guests.
Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort: Croatia’s Premium Seaside Experience
The second addition, the Adriatic Istria Resort, marks Minor Hotels’ entry into Croatia, situated in the prestigious Istrian region. Located in Savudrija, the 186-key resort features three restaurants, four bars, and a health and wellness centre, with indoor and outdoor pools, and beach access. In addition to its impressive wellness offerings, the resort is home to the 18-hole Golf Adriatic PGA National Croatia course, providing an exceptional golfing experience alongside the beautiful coastline.

Guests will be able to indulge in nature-based activities while exploring the local Istrian culture and cuisine, making this resort an ideal destination for both relaxation and experiential travel.
Anantara and Minor Reserve Collection: New Luxury Soft Brand
The addition of these resorts strengthens Minor Hotels’ presence in Europe and introduces two luxury brands to the Adriatic. Anantara, the brand known for its luxury hospitality and experiential travel offerings, will introduce its signature services to the Adriatic coast. Meanwhile, the Minor Reserve Collection will provide independent luxury hotels with a distinct identity, celebrating local culture while benefiting from Minor Hotels’ global marketing and distribution reach.

The new resorts will not only enhance Slovenia’s and Croatia’s luxury tourism offerings but will also introduce a new level of exclusivity in the Mediterranean region. The resorts’ locations, facilities, and luxury focus will position them among the most desirable destinations for global high-end travellers.
Expanding Minor Hotels’ European Footprint
These new signings are part of Minor Hotels’ strategy to expand its European portfolio, focusing on priority resort destinations in the Mediterranean region. Slovenia and Croatia are gaining traction as high-end travel destinations with sustainable tourism practices, rich cultural heritage, and growing wellness tourism sectors. These markets are expected to see continued growth in luxury travel as more visitors seek refined, authentic experiences in picturesque coastal regions.
The resorts’ locations near major airports in Portorož, Pula, Rijeka, and Trieste provide excellent accessibility for international travellers, positioning these properties to attract global visitors seeking a combination of luxury, relaxation, and wellness in the Mediterranean.
A New Era for Adriatic Luxury Resorts
The new Hotel Palace Portorož in Slovenia and Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort in Croatia will boost Minor Hotels’ European presence through their upcoming openings. The two new resorts will create a unique combination of wellness, dining, and luxury experiences, which will transform the Adriatic coast into an elite travel destination for discerning visitors. Minor Hotels develops its new properties to meet rising demand for special guest experiences in Europe’s top travel destinations through its commitment to sustainable tourism and authentic cultural experiences.
