They killed 3 police officers: 5 ISIS members in Yalova were acquitted of membership of a “terrorist organization” 2 months ago

It was revealed that 5 out of 6 ISIS members killed in the conflict in Yalova in which 3 police officers lost their lives were acquitted in 2025 on the charge of “being a member of an armed terrorist organization”. It was stated that the people associated with the suspects were preparing to assassinate the AKP Yalova Provincial Chairman, and 4 ISIS members, who were brothers, were planning to kill their fathers and brothers who did not join the organization by declaring them “infidels”.

It was revealed that 5 of the 6 ISIS members who died in the conflict in which 3 police officers were killed in Yalova were detained and arrested in 2024 on the charge of ‘being a member of an armed terrorist organization’, and at the end of the trial, they were acquitted in October 2025, 2 months before the conflict. While it was learned that the people associated with 5 ISIS members were preparing to assassinate the AKP Yalova Provincial Chairman, it was also stated that 4 of the dead terrorists, who were brothers, declared their other brothers and fathers who did not believe in the organization as ‘taghut’ and ‘infidel’ and were planning to kill their fathers.

In the operation against ISIS in İsmet Paşa District Seher Street on December 29, 2025, at around 02:00, police officers İlker Pehlivan (47), Turgut Külünk (50) and Yasin Koçyiğit (49) were killed, and 8 police officers and 1 guard were injured in the fire opened from a house. While 5 women and 6 children at the address were evacuated alive, ISIS members Lütfi Sordabak (25), Haşem Sordabak (28), Mehmet Cami Sordabak (32), Musa Sordabak (29), Zafer Umutlu (26) and İbrahim Dayan (24) were captured dead in the conflict. Following the incident, 66 of the 198 people detained in the operations against ISIS in the city were arrested.

8 OF THE 18 PEOPLE DETAINED IN 2024 WERE ARRESTED While the investigation initiated by the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the incident continues, in the operation carried out against ISIS in the city in 2024, it was determined that all pro-organization groups in Türkiye were gathered under the roof of ‘morality’ and ‘sunnah’ and opened mosques there, and they were preparing to form a jihad group with propaganda / invitation activities. 18 people determined to be connected were detained. 8 of the suspects were arrested on the charge of ‘being a member of an armed terrorist organization’.

ORGANIZATIONAL EDUCATION UNDER THE NAME OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION In the 138-page indictment prepared by the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office; It was noted that the organization was trying to present it as a legal activity by taking the Ethics and Sunnah Magazine Representatives into consideration, and that cell activities were continuing in the background, that they were not a simple community, that they were considering carrying out actions and assassinations in Türkiye, that they were trying to create the infrastructure in Türkiye to realize their ideas for this purpose, and that they would start actions when the time came. It was stated that in the meetings held under the name of lectures and conversations, discourses were made under the headings of ‘Preparation for war’, ‘The importance of individual armament’, ‘Every Muslim should receive military training and know how to use weapons’, while it was also stated in the indictment that it was planned to open a boarding course in Yalova to provide organizational training under the name of religious education and that people who had previously been prosecuted for the crime of ‘being a member of the ISIS armed terrorist organization’ would be trained in these courses.

BASIS GAINING ACTIVITIES IN 24 PROVINCES In the indictment, it is also stated that, as a supporter of ISIS, in 24 provinces including Adana, Ağrı, Ankara, Batman, Bingöl, Bursa, Çankırı, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, İstanbul, İzmir, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Konya, Malatya, Manisa, Muş, Sakarya, Samsun, Tekirdağ, Yalova and Van. It was also stated that there are 97 associations, bookstores, masjids and madrasahs, and that recruitment and base-gaining activities are continuing in these places.

PREPARATIONS TO ASSASSINATE THE AKP PROVINCIAL CHAIRMAN. In the examination of the seized mobile phones of the suspects BK, AB and MUB, who were stated to be preparing for a loud action and assassination plan before going to the conflict zones, it was also recorded in the indictment that they were preparing to assassinate the AKP Yalova Provincial Chairperson Umut Güçlü in the chat record of the messaging application called ‘Converstations’ they used. It also included sketches, photographs and messages stating that they were trying to procure weapons.

HE MADE A DISCOVERY AND ASKED FOR A SILENCED GUN TO BE PROVIDED. It was seen that BK, who sent photos of the house to the person he was communicating with via message, marked the security cameras by circling them in red. While it was evaluated that BK was not satisfied with the photo of the house he downloaded from the computer, he also made a reconnaissance in the area. It was seen that he marked a part of the photo of the house and sent a message to the member of the organization codenamed ‘Usutecik’ saying, “From this point, we can come from behind and see the forest area easily. From this area, we get out of the vehicle and build a staircase in the forest area. Then, when it gets dark, we go to the back of the house and observe. In the evening, when we sleep, boomm.” It was determined that at a different time, BK sent a message to a member of the organization codenamed ‘Usutecik’ saying, “Find me a suitable way to return with a silencer, brother” and asked for help in procuring the weapon he would use in the assassination.

PLAN TO KILL THEIR FATHER In the 138-page indictment, M.Ş.S., the brothers of ISIS members Lütfi Sordabak, Haşem Sordabak, Mehmet Cami Sordabak and Musa Sordabak, who were captured dead in the conflict in which 3 police officers died in Yalova, did not believe in the organization. (34), AS (23), CS (26) and their father MS, were declared ‘taghut’ and an infidel, they forcibly detained their mother SS, whom they wanted to separate from their father, and they opened fire on MS, who went to take his wife with his sons CS and AS. It was also included in the indictment that the brothers, who were members of ISIS, planned to kill their father and marry their mother to someone from the organization, whom they did not consider an “infidel”.

"THEY THREATENED TO KILL US AND TOLD US THAT THEY WILL BE HEADED"
In the indictment, which also includes the statement given by father MS as a complainant, mother SS also said, “They started saying that their other siblings, their father and I were infidels, that we would either be with them when they took power, that if we did not, they would kill us and take our heads. These issues were discussed many times in the family environment, and fights broke out between the siblings because of these ideas. Even though their other siblings told them that this path was wrong, my children Musa, Mehmet Cami, Lütfi and Haşem did not give up their discourses and thoughts and this Morality It was learned that he said, “They continued to go to Sünnet Magazine and participate in its conversations.”

PROSECUTOR OF 17 PEOPLE "TERRORIST ORGANIZATION" HE ASKED FOR PRISON FOR HIS MEMBERSHIP. In the indictment, it was stated that all the suspects, except Filiz S. (32), ‘committed the crime of being a member of the armed terrorist organization charged against them by adopting the actions and activities of the ISIS terrorist organization and carrying out activities in line with the ideology of the organization.’ 17 people were asked to be sentenced to imprisonment from 10 to 40 years each for the crimes of ‘Being a member of an armed terrorist organization’, ‘Depriving a qualified person of their liberty’, ‘Attempting to deliberately kill a relative’ and ‘Purchasing or carrying or possessing unlicensed firearms and bullets’.

THE PROSECUTOR’S OBJECTIONS TO THE ACQUITTAL DECISIONS WERE NOT ACCEPTED. At the verdict hearing of the trial held at Yalova 2nd High Criminal Court in October 2025, 15 of the 18 people, including 5 ISIS members who killed 3 police officers, Lütfi Sordabak, Haşem Sordabak, Mehmet Cami Sordabak, Musa Sordabak and Zafer Umutlu, were convicted. He was acquitted of the crime of ‘being a member of an armed terrorist organization’.

On the other hand, it was learned that Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor Duygu Bayar Öksüz objected to the decisions separately, but the objections were not accepted.
