WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – It is American Heart Month, and this past Friday, therapy dogs visited health care workers at Lexington Health in West Columbia.

This was a part of giving employees a needed Heart Healthy Break during the workday.

Each of the dogs in the event was a certified therapy dog that visits Lexington Health patients regularly.

“We’ve got, I think, fifteen to twenty dogs here, all trained pet therapy dogs,” said Dr. Garrett Ruth. “Everybody’s coming down, it looks like, to kind of learn about them. They all have badges, official badges for LMC, signifying that they’ve been trained and are ready to go. We’re meeting them and learning all about their cardio-protective benefits.”

There were more than a dozen certified therapy dogs at the North Tower Atrium.
