Aalto chooses Northern Australia for second Zephyr HAPS site
Airbus subsidiary Aalto Haps has signalled its intention to establish its second launch and landing site for the Zephyr high-altitude platform (HAPS) in northern Australia, as it continues development flights ahead of planned commercialisation in 2026. The proposed Australian site would complement Aalto’s existing base in Kenya, which opened in 2024. The company said northern Australia has been identified as meeting the required criteria for an Aaltoport, citing its proximity to the Equator.
