I was born in the United States, the son of Cuban parents, and I come from a completely Cuban family. Most of my family is originally from Pinar del Río, except for my paternal grandfather, who was from Ciego de Ávila.

I always knew we had Spanish ancestry, but I didn’t expect the highest percentages in my results to be Galician and Portuguese. I find this very interesting, especially since I have no known Galician or Portuguese ancestors, and none of my surnames are clearly Galician or Portuguese. Some are also found in Galicia, but they are not exclusive to that region. Most of the surnames I have researched mainly date back to other parts of Spain.

As for Portugal, I have no evidence of a direct origin, and none of my surnames seem to be exclusively linked to that country. At most, one or two could have a shared origin between Spain and Portugal.

I have traveled throughout almost all of Spain and Portugal; I travel frequently. Both are countries full of history, culture and exceptional gastronomy.
