  1. It’s because of guys like him that I’ll never be completely comfortable asking my wife if she wants to come mountaineering with me. Or if I can take out quite a large insurance policy on her… just in case.

  2. Pretty important piece of information:

    > A dramatic turn came late in the trial when a surprise witness, Andrea Bergener, an ex-girlfriend of Mr. Plamberger’s, testified that Mr. Plamberger had left her alone on a night hike on Grossglockner a few years earlier.

    > “Once we descended the Glockner at night, and suddenly he was gone,” she said. “I felt dizzy, I screamed, and I was completely alone. From then on, we didn’t go on any more hikes together.”

  3. He’s a wealthy white male. I’m surprised he even got convicted That there was no punishment does not surprise me at all. Good Judge Norbert could probably imagine himself in a similar situation. I remember when that rapist at Stanford got five months and the judge made a remark about his future. Never a remark about the victims’ futures from these judges.

  4. $8,400 and a suspended 5-month sentence. So that’s what this poor woman’s life was worth. And, he left another girlfriend on a mountain overnight years before. Imagine how light the sentence would have been had she not testified. Shameful.

  5. This is a man who wants to cause the death of his partners but in a plausibly deniable kind of way. One girlfriend and an ex both got left stranded? That’s not a coincidence.

If she was my daughter he’d be dead. 11k for basically killing someone and a few months of what? Certainly not punishment. Europe is so full of pussies.

Interesting witness/character statement from his ex-girlfriend made during the trial.

Ex-girlfriend: Left behind on climbing tour

An ex-girlfriend of the defendant reported in her statement about a Großglockner tour that she completed with the 37-year-old. He left her there “in the middle of the night” during the descent because she was too slow. He said that she shouldn’t “act like that”. “That was the last mountain tour together,” she added.
