Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili stated that the construction of new transport routes between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be beneficial for the South Caucasus region.
Modern.az reports that she noted during her appearance on “Imedi LIVE” that these projects are not considered rivals to Georgia’s transit routes.
The Minister emphasized that Georgia’s strategic geographical position makes it one of the region’s main transport hubs, and no new route can replace the country’s role.
Botchorishvili stated that the opening of new roads will increase the region’s transport accessibility, and there is a need for additional routes amidst increasing cargo transportation between West and East. According to her, even if several new roads are put into operation, this may not be enough to fully meet the growing demand.
The Minister added that Georgia welcomes this process positively and views it not as competition, but as regional cooperation and development.
