  1. Stupid question, but is this all sea ice or is there also cloud over the sea?

Some of it looks like cloud, but I’ve never studied how sea ice drifts can look/travel/disperse in satellite photos.

  2. In contrast to what it was like in the past, there is a story of Latvian peasants during 17th century deciding to DRIVE their carts with grain over the Baltic sea to Sweden to sell their grain there. Story says that they made it both ways with good profit.

  3. That’s extremely good news for the baltic sea, because it’s still way too warm. The cold weather also pushed lots of water from the baltic sea into the north sea and the water that will sweep back in will drastically improve conditions in the baltic sea (hopefully).

  4. Okay now I’m wondering if any one goes ice-skating between Finland and Sweden during these conditions.

  5. We went to Rügen for the weekend a week ago and it was so cool. I have never walked on the Baltic sea before. It felt like I am in Greenland or something.
