The auction price of the uniform worn by Utah Leirdam of the Netherlands, the women’s 1,000m speed skating gold medalist at the 2026 Milan/Cortina D’Ampezzo Winter Olympics, exceeded 12 million won.
The British daily Daily Mail reported on the 20th (local time) that the Dutch Olympic team has auctioned off items related to the competition, and that Leirdam’s bright orange outfit worn during the competition is currently on display at Tim Tetherland House in Milan, Italy.
Leirdam’s match clothes soared to 7,102 euros (12 million won) as of 9 a.m. on the 23rd (Korea Standard Time).
Since there are still more than five days left until the end of the auction, the final successful bid price for the uniform with autographs is expected to rise further.
The Dutch team plans to donate the proceeds from the Olympic souvenir auction to a local club where the athletes first began their sport.
Earlier, Leyrdam set an Olympic record of 1:12.31 at the women’s 1,000m speed skating event in Milan, Italy, on the 10th, giving the Netherlands its first gold medal of the tournament. After the victory was confirmed, Leyrdam unzipped his racewear and exposed Nike’s white sports bra, making headlines.
The Sun, a British media outlet, said, “The promotional effect of the white sports bra shown to viewers around the world is worth $1 million (about 1.44 billion won).”
