Two moderate earthquakes struck Bosnia and Herzegovina within minutes of each other on Monday evening, with tremors felt across parts of southern Croatia, including Dalmatia.

The first quake occurred at 8:29 p.m., registering a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale. Just six minutes later, at 8:35 p.m., a second tremor measuring 3.2 followed, according to initial reports.

Data from the (EMSC) indicate that the epicenter of the first earthquake was located approximately 32 kilometers from and just 6 kilometers from . The second quake’s epicenter was recorded around 31 kilometers from Mostar and 14 kilometers from .

Both earthquakes occurred at a depth of roughly 10 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface.

Shortly after the tremors, residents took to social media and seismic monitoring platforms to report feeling the shaking. The EMSC initially classified the detection as automatic and crowdsourced, pending full seismic verification.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with southern Croatia, lies in a seismically active region where smaller earthquakes are not uncommon. While Monday’s events were moderate in magnitude, they served as a reminder of the area’s underlying tectonic activity.
