For comparison I have a non working partner and 4 children and we rent private. I only earn $1300 a week as a full-time worker 🤷

Trying to find a house capable of holding a mother and seven kids is the problem.
Even with all the money she is getting, it isn’t enough to rent a property big enough with enough bedrooms.
Though double bunking would probably solve that problem.

No, but you are likely mixing up the main reason.
She wont get approved to rent a private property. Go to the Aust Property sub and ask the landlords there if any would approve this profile for a rental in the current competitive market.
Answer would be no. Too many kids, too much risk of damage to the property. Kids age out of the payment and the money available for rent changes. Kids move to other parent (or leave home for various reasons) and mum will lose/reduce payment.
In a quieter market, yes she would have (and likely has previously had) no problems getting approved as otherwise the property may sit empty.
Not today.
The hail Mary could be that this media helps find her someone that will take this tenant profile on… but I haven’t seen any offers on any write ups, have you?

She states she earns $2,600 a fortnight. That’s $72,000 a year in hand. Compare that to the usual 26k a year for Centrelink Jobseekers or $36,000 for a single pensioner. Those are the people who need it.
She needs to apply for every single affordable renting home imaginable or move to an area that she can afford. Even if her rent costs $1400 a fortnight she still has $1200 for food and expenses. She can shop at Aldi, or ask within the community for assistance for food, there are programs to assist.

$2,800 a fortnight from centrelink for anyone not wanting to open the article.
She has 7 kids.
I mean she’s getting that without working, surely she can move somewhere more affordable if she can’t find a place in brisbane.
Obviously the biggest thing should be the kids going to a good school.
Honestly this is where imo the government should take all her centrelink money off her and give her a place to live, supply her with food for her and the kids and make sure they have access and the ability to get to school.

The fact that you’ve asked this question and responded to suggest that just because someone appears to be doing it less tough than you speaks volumes about what you consider to be fair in society. This is what all the billionaire pedos want by the way. All the rich cunts here and abroad benefit from us fighting with each other instead of focusing on dismantling everything that enriches their lives whilst we piss and moan over scraps. The system is doing it’s job and you don’t seem to realise the scale of just how fucked things are. Do you want your children to rent for the rest of their lives? Worry about paying for food or affording medication? We need to level the playing field and tax these greedy fucks so we don’t have to ponder the “fairness” of whether this woman should be expecting housing or when it’s a basic human fucking right.

Yes, you are. In case you somehow missed it, the housing market is an absolute travesty right now, no REA’s will accept her application over a steady income earner, a dual income, or a smaller family. There’s also the issue of no fixed address, which is a massive challenge for a lot of paperwork in the rental process. From recent experience, I know that lump-sum payment of rent isn’t legal either now, so savings doesn’t count for shit unless you’re aiming for a purchase deposit.
Emergency housing for families suddenly doing it tough should absolutely be a thing a wealthy country like ours can afford. Circumstances can change very quickly in either direction, often through no fault of the afflicted.

So realistically the government should just provide everyone housing if $1400 a week isn’t enough to survive renting private 🤷 I personally don’t know anyone on better money.
