The Finance Minister, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, was admitted to Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon on 25 February and is currently undergoing medical tests, an official hospital source told Lusa, without providing further details.
The same source ruled out a diagnosis of stroke, which had been reported by some media outlets.
Joaquim Miranda Sarmento held the Finance portfolio in both governments led by LuÃs Montenegro, having served as economic advisor to President AnÃbal Cavaco Silva between 2012 and 2016.
