“He called it a golden age. He called it the greatest economy that we have ever had. He blamed all the problems in the economy on someone else, and really told the American people not to believe their lying eyes, that they should not be dissatisfied with prices in the economy, because he has brought them down so much,” Chief of Policy and Advocacy at Groundwork Collaborative Alex Jacquez said. He continued:
Just telling people that things are getting better isn’t the same as actually doing it.
Governor Abigail Spanberger’s Democratic rebuttal mirrored some of her campaign speeches, Jacquez said.
“Abigail Spanberger has been running on affordability for years now. It paid off big time last November, and she has the credibility to make the case that this is the path forward,” said Jacquez.
Rep. Al Green was escorted out of the House chamber after waiving a sign that said “Black people aren’t apes!”
“There are going to be disruptions… Over the last few years, there’s really just been more of this back and forth and using the State of the Union as a platform, really, it’s a place to get a message out,” said Jacquez.
