  1. The far right is expected but it’s shameful how the left votes as well. Horseshoe theory at its finest

  2. People on the political extremes take extreme positions.

I never really believed in horseshoe theory, but it’s amazing how both the far-right and far-left are so susceptible to Russian influence.

  3. Nothing surprising there. ESN are openly fascist assholes and pretty much funded by Russia. Patriots are the same, only a bit more subtle. And The Left are just straight up Tankies.

  4. Far Left and Far Right working against European interests.

Both are supported by Russians to create infighting.

  5. Let’s also cheer for the **28%** of EU representatives not bothered enough to just do their job 🤗

France bringing its A game with 55 out of its 81 MEPs abstaining or not showing up. Nice cowards 👏

Those who are against it should be deported to Russia. Ukrainians are paying with blood and are holding against forces of russian reich on our eastern border for FOUR years already. Wake up ALL OF YOU, cuz most of us, are taking it for granted now and it’s sickening.

  7. Russia taking over ukraine cannot be allowed to happen. It is a matter of national security not only for baltics, romania and poland but for the whole EU as russias hybrid war would only intensify. Being against supporting ukraine is something that absolutely baffles me.

  8. French situation:

Les Républicains (the traditional right), Parti Socialiste (the traditional left), Renaissance (Macron’s party), Mouvement Démocrate (Bayrou’s party, centrist), Horizons (Édouard Philippe’s party, centrist), Les Écologistes, UDI (Borloo’s party, if anyone cares lol) and interestingly enough, IDL (Marion Maréchal’s party EDIT because I forgot : far-right) belong to groups that voted **in favour**.

Rassemblement National (the main far-right party), UDR (Éric CIotti’s party, different flavour of far-right), and La France Insoumise (Mélenchon’s party, far-left) belong to groups that **abstained**.

The only party that belongs to a group that voted **against** is Reconquête (Éric Zemmour’s party, an even different flavour of far-right).

  9. Once again, the far right and far left parties of Europe claim to be the truly patriotic while they act as collaborators for the future occupation of their people. It’s incredible how it seems we haven’t really moved ahead from WW2.

Even though I don’t vote Left on EP elections, I just want to mention, for those who are having a fun time doing Left-bashing here, that one of the main reasons they voted against this particular resolution, I believe, is due to this aspect of it “MEPs want more EU sanctions against Russia (…)”.

It is a known position of the European Left that they believe that sanctions are politically fruitless (specially against geopolitical foes) and just hurt the local population so I wouldn’t say that this vote translates directly with “they side with the aggressor”

  11. There are countless ways in which EU can “Stand with Ukraine” – so what is the exact vote here?

  12. 79% against is some fucking bribed bullshit max.

Like follow the votes and you’ll stumble across illegal financing from either the US, Rushit or both.

I can get 10-20-30%, some deluded people exist, but over that it’s clearly bribes.

  13. I’m surprised Patriots (Orbán’s party is in here) is not second to bottom regarding true “Against”-s.

    Bunch of fucking cowards hahaha

Could someone explain the European left’s positions against supporting Ukraine, apart from the argument that “Russia was the USSR 35 years ago, and this is somehow seen as good for modern left discourse”?

  15. For French people reading here, I checked for LFI and none of there deputees voted against
    One voted In Favour

  16. extremists being extremists again, but they keep gathering more and more voters every election for some reason

  17. I just realized I know nothing about any of these… so I started googling them. And realized the depths of my ignorance.

Can anyone tell me, if I wanted to slowly get more in touch with european politics, what could I turn to? Some specific newspaper I should read? A great book that does an overview?

I know this isn’t the subject, but maybe someone else might get something out of it.

  18. I find it interesting that this infographics is probably part of Russia’s propaganda. I know, it’s counterintuitive, but bear with me.

How can we tell? See how accurately they picked the worst possible image, in background, for the president of Ukraine (Volodymyr Zelensky). That cannot but anything deliberate, and it took some effort too. Do an image search for that name, and see how far you need to scroll down before you find one image that looks remotely that bad. It was likely a stop frame image from a video, caught open mount, one where he looks the least relatable possible. Yet, the graphics is professionally done, and it obviously took some time and care. I think there’s no explaination except it’s done deliberately and by design. Even if it’s a small and (apparently) secondary detail, thinking about it, it’s actually revealing.

This means that the shown data (irrespective of its truthfullness) is meant to aid the cause against Ukraine. Maybe the purpose is make Russian supporters (like people who fell for their propaganda) feel dissatisfied with lack of representation, or to make them feel underdogs but not alone (which is often part of the mechanism), or to foster support for the political formations at the bottom of the list.
