The information war, which is actually happening everywhere today, is an area of work that requires an objective, honest, principled, and most importantly, rapid response. This approach is what the Belarusian leadership and media aim to follow, which is why the situation in Belarus is currently under control and fully managed — as stated by Aleksandr Volfovich, the State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council, in response to a question from a journalist from sb.by before a working meeting with the leadership of the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research (BISR).

“At present, the situation is under control and fully managed across all aspects of national security. However, regarding the information being circulated and what we observe today, it is evident that certain forces are attempting to destabilise the situation. The West has not abandoned its main goal: to create instability, overthrow political regimes they dislike and install puppet governments that answer to them. What we are witnessing today in Poland and the Baltic States is that their governments, at the behest of the United States or other Western powers like the United Kingdom, comply with their demands — not for the benefit of their own people or countries. They spend huge sums on military budgets instead of civil infrastructure or the development of the national economy and socio-economic projects. Military rhetoric is heard everywhere — in Poland, the Baltic States and throughout Europe — while powerful civilian industries are being shut down,” the State Secretary of the Security Council emphasised.

Therefore, according to Mr. Volfovich, Belarus is also being targeted for destabilisation.

“But look at how our media function today, how objectively, quickly and promptly the information agenda is handled, how the country’s leadership responds — especially the President, who reacts around the clock to all provocations! Of course, overloading the President with various everyday issues is highly inappropriate. The President has strategic tasks and a strategic vision, yet the Head of State still responds to everything. And since the country’s leadership reacts promptly and resolves all arising issues, citizens recognise that all efforts are made for the people and the development of the state. Responsible citizens understand all of this,” he underlined.

The State Secretary of the Security Council highlighted examples such as citizens organising themselves to clear snow, the recent prompt actions by law enforcement to apprehend criminals in the Smolevichi District, and the consistent cleanliness, order, and safety maintained around the clock in both cities and regions of Belarus. The same level of order should apply to information hygiene.

“The President rightly emphasises that people should read official publications and websites that offer an objective and accurate picture, rather than trusting everything found on the Internet. Our media are responding today, and the country’s leadership is addressing [information challenges and provocations]. The information war, which is actually happening everywhere today, is an area of work that requires an objective, honest, principled, and most importantly, rapid response. This is the approach we aim to follow,” Mr. Volfovich stated.
