Got the letter in the mail earlier this afternoon. Got lucky enough that I was able to get to the DMV in time, but given that if I’d gotten off work at 5 like usual, I wouldn’t have had a chance to go to the DMV and get an updated license, it feels entirely like it was maliciously done to get as many of us caught up in law enforcement action by driving with an invalid license unawares.
Also, just to rub salt in the wound, I had to pay $8.75 for the privilege, as a “processing fee.” Fuck this state. I changed my license in 2022 to female, then it gets force-reverted to male in 2024, then I get it FINALLY fixed this December back to female, and now we’re BACK to male. The people at the DMV recognized my gay ass from Kobach’s crusade and literally apologized before I even walked into the door. 😭
