The Italian Ambassador to Yerevan, Alessandro Ferranti, visited the headquarters of the Public TV Company of Armenia (Amptv), the public television broadcaster of the Republic of Armenia.
The visit took place in the presence of the company’s Executive Director, Hovhannes Movsisyan, and was attended by the Head of the European Union Delegation, promoter of the initiative, as well as other Ambassadors of EU Member States accredited in the country.
During the meeting, the history, mission, and activities of the broadcaster, which has been a point of reference in the Armenian media landscape since 1956, were presented, including through illustrative video projections. The discussion provided an opportunity to explore possible areas of cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, with particular reference to the media sector and the promotion of shared values through the tools of public diplomacy.
A number of possible initiatives for collaboration specifically with Italy were also identified, particularly in light of the considerable heritage in the field of public broadcasting at European level and the great interest of the Armenian public in Italian television programming.
The active role of Amptv within the European Broadcasting Union, of which it has been a member since 2005, was also highlighted as further evidence of the broadcaster’s commitment to promoting dialogue and cultural exchange.
The visit ended with a tour of the main facilities, historical archives, and television studios of the complex, particularly those used for political analysis and news programs. During the tour, guests were introduced to the editorial work, the stages of production, the technologies available at the headquarters, and the various development projects.
