President Bajram Begaj, during a joint press conference with his North Macedonian counterpart Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, described relations between the two countries as an example of regional cooperation and strategic partnership.

The Albanian head of state referred to the Ohrid Framework Agreement as a historic achievement for North Macedonia and for regional stability.

“Albania considers the Ohrid Framework Agreement historic. The full implementation of the law on the Albanian language and the preservation of equality mechanisms are essential elements for social cohesion, institutional stability, and the country’s European perspective,” President Begaj stated.

He also mentioned the agreements signed between the two governments, highlighting the importance of economic cooperation.

President Begaj devoted special attention to Corridor VIII, describing it as a symbol of a new era of cooperation.

“We must deepen political, economic, and social cooperation and create new synergies in green energy, the digital economy, and infrastructure connectivity. Corridor VIII is not only a transport route, but also an energy and European security corridor linking the Mediterranean to the Black Sea, placing our countries at the heart of this strategic axis,” he said.

In his remarks, President Begaj emphasized the role and contribution of Albanians in North Macedonia, describing them as state-builders and constructive contributors to the country’s democratic life.

“The Albanian factor is key to political stability, governance, and North Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic advancement,” he declared.

In conclusion, Begaj stated that Albanians in North Macedonia and Macedonians in Albania represent a strong bridge of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, further strengthening traditional ties and the shared European perspective.
