I came across an analysis in the German media magazine "Media" that I think deserves more attention in Switzerland.

According to their reporting, the most far-reaching right-wing populist account on X / twitter in the German-speaking space is apparently operated by someone from Switzerland. What surprised me most: the account reportedly generates more reach than other well-known right-conservative actors like Nius (a kind of German Fox News-style outlet) or even Alice Weidel from the AfD (Alternative für Deutschland).

The content is pretty much what you would expect from that corner of the internet:

  • Daily posts framing immigrants and asylum seekers as a threat

  • Anti-Muslim narratives

  • Hostility toward queer and LGBTQ+ people

  • Anti-vaccination claims

  • Strong anti-EU messaging

  • Open support for AfD, Donald Trump, Elon Musk and similar figures

I’m not posting this to amplify the account or send traffic its way. Quite the opposite. I’m sharing this because I haven’t seen the topic covered in Swiss media so far. Given the scale of its reach in the German-speaking world, I think it’s relevant to be aware that such a significant political influence operation (or at least highly influential account) is being run out of Switzerland.

  1. Alice Weidel, President of the AfD lives in Switzerland. She is president of an anti Imigrant & anti LGBT Party and lives abroad with her Sri Lankian origin gay wife with two childrens from different fathers. Basically a traditional German life. What do you expect :D.

But hey, we are a democracy and we have freedom of speech.

  2. Maybe, just maybe, stop using twittler platform altogether?

Don’t feed the trolls was the motto in the early internet times.

  3. And? People aren’t allowed to have a stance or an opinion unless it’s the same as your own or?

  4. In the linked article Switzerland is not mentioned once and Alice Weidel is behind Nius, so I don’t understand what you are referring to.

  5. Twitter has become a cesspool long before Grok started spewing CSAM on it.
It is not a place where I would want to be seen.

  6. Is he wrong? 🙂

Since when: wanting Europe for Europeans been marked as “far-right”? We are living in Europe; we have our own culture. Why would we want some random third-worlders with their weird way of thinking?
