Even if they were, the fuck’s your problem with people enjoying a celebratory chocolate egg?

Given the commercialisation of every other holiday, I wonder how many companies have been reading this story and thinking “Damn, why didn’t we think of that?”.

I kinda want a date flavoured creme egg, I won’t lie.

It’s not a bad idea. In terms of celebrations I move we also have Eid Pride where all the LGBTQ+ Muslims have a day to celebrate.

This happens every year and people fall for it every year

Just remember to read the labels. Easter eggs don’t count as chocolate anymore and don’t buy any that use palm oil

A date or Dubai chocolate flavour Eid egg would be a perfectly sensible commercial choice, and a huge opportunity for exporting to Islamic markets.

That’s excellent news, because their chocolate is shite now.

why should only the Christians hoildays, be used as an excuse to sell chocolate?
to borrow from a beyond basic google search
>Eid al-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide as it marks the end of the month-long, dawn-to-dusk fasting during Ramadan.
From the POV of a chocolate company, this is as good of a reason as any.
The outrage by some people is so selective, if I was some right wing Christian, I would be more pissed off that chocolate companies like Cadbury have ruined the message behind Easter by the crass commercailsation. I may even ask “why is it only the Christian hoildays that get ruined? Is Big Chocolate too scared to comercailse Muslim hoildays? “

I genuinely would not care if they were. Oh no, one more chocolate egg on the shelf? Where will all the creme eggs and creme egg whites and mini eggs and Biscoff eggs and Terry’s Chocolate Orange eggs and Reese’s peanut butter eggs go? Simply too many types of eggs, we can’t have one more!

my missus’s Thai spa is in a high percentage muslim area and she’s doing an ‘Eid special offer’ – it makes business sense to run promotions during celebratory festivals. I thought all these right whingers were pro business, pro free market economics

I don’t really see the issue considering the Christians stole the traditions and dates from Pagans anyway

I don’t know when or what Eid is but if there is chocolate involved I’m willing to give it a try.

I’m not Muslim and I’d buy an Eid egg. Everyone loves a chocolate egg. Cadbury should make an Eid egg if only for the Kafir who like chocolate.

It would probably taste awful, they have cheaped out on the ingredients in their chocolate but prices haven’t changed. Does it even qualify as chocolate any more.

ATM Easter and Ramadan tend to fall in close proximity.
Facts: Muslims eat chocolate
Also facts: Some Muslims eat Easter eggs
A fact not so well known: some devout Muslims consider the eating or purchase of Easter eggs to be highly sinful. The website for the Leicester based Dar ul Iftar, recommends “burying them”.
The website “Seekers Guidance” out of Canada but includes contributions from British Muslim scholars has a similar sentiment.
An egg, being the symbol of rebirth has no theological resonance in Islam.
Islamic law has a clear injunction:
” Do not imitate disbelievers .”
Therefore, there would be no market for an Eid Egg.

I wouldn’t care if they sold such a thing but look at that ‘art’ on the box. Come on now. I see images with the exact same style all over town now being used for cheap advertising.

I’d buy Eid eggs if they’re cheaper. Easter eggs are a ripoff.

Ahh the easter related right wing lies have started.
Waiting patiently for the tory/farage sponsored headline lies about “Easter eggs don’t say easter on them any more”

I bet the same people complaining about this are the same people who think they’re being exotic picking up some “Dubai chocolate” from the all night garage.

Why not launch a multipurpose “Eidster Egg”? Offend everyone

I work with Muslim young people 16-18 years old. We are donated Easter eggs for them every Easter and they’re always delighted to GIVEN CHOCOLATE because they’re teenagers for goodness sake

I’d be more offended by the commercialisation of Easter than I would the commercialisation of someone else’s holiday.
