  1. They’re laying the groundwork for getting us involved in another American war, aren’t they?

The main European powers are moving towards a complete 180 on their foreign policy positions in this conflict over the past 48 hours. Not that I disapprove, but once again we did not matter at all.

Next time, take the right position from the get-go. Now it begs the conclusion that the USA had it right from the start, or that – at the very least – Europe is forced to follow suit because the international situation is now a fait accompli.

Defenseive? How can anything be defensive after they took out the leader of a country for the “check notes” 2nd time?

Am I going insane? Why is every news outlet talking as if Iran attacked first? The US attacked Iran didn’t it?

  5. Actual_Cat4779 on

    Unacceptable.

The US is the aggressor. We should not assist the aggressor in defending itself.

“Defense” means “Offense” in modern terms.

The confusion allows evil people to lie and point to the name and claim that defense warfare is offensive.

“We have taken the decision to accept this request to prevent Iran firing missiles across the region killing innocent civilians, putting British lives at risks and hitting countries that have not been involved.”

As much as I wish the US hadn’t done this. We are where we are, and this decision seems necessary

This is bonkers. Attacker is attacking. Allowing use of your base for attack makes you a legitimite target for counterattack by defending country(Iran).

  9. It is so funny how people in this thread are preaching to stay out of it because it is not Europe’s problem, but they were constantly crying about Trump saying Ukraine is Europe’s problem and they should foot the bill.

  10. The permission is to hit where the missiles are being fired from, something Arab states have apparently requested too since our bases are the ones with the big bombers on them.

Honestly, given the options, it seems fair. Iran is targeting everyone, and doing nothing has not stopped them aiming missiles at you. For anyone but the USA and Israel, reacting now is self defence.

Nooo. We don’t want involved with anything to do with Israel.
    This is so sad.

Fuck sake honestly. Why can’t we stay out of US wars just for once? Helping their defence is not defensive if they are the ones who took the offensive actions of invasion. Now UK bases and Cyprus may be considered fair targets by Iran and they may be more inclined to attack us.

    For the billionth time…

The UK has only been defending it’s bases in the region. It has not conducted any attacks on Iran, nor has it allowed the US access to it’s bases to attack Iran. Therefore the attack on UK (and French etc) bases is the first move and absolutely warrants retaliation. Iran has fucked up big time. There are even rumours (and unconfirmed footage) of a drone strike in Akrotiri (Cyprus). If this is true, NATO article 5 could technically be triggered and at the very least the UK will absolutely be getting involved.

I think Russia is going to find it harder and harder to find any “friends” to bail them out of the Ukrain quagmire. Fucking shithole pariah states will never learn.

  15. For fuck sakes. Be ready for alot of terrorism and refugees. Everybody loses beside US and Israel. Europe is gonna get alot of refugees, some of them have lost their sons, daughters, mother or father and wants revenge by either stabbing random civilians or shoot somebody. Everybody should be mad at US and Israel. Fucking everything up in middle east just for some cash and distraction from Epstein files.
