    >The UK has agreed to a US request to use British military bases for “defensive” strikes on Iranian missile sites, Sir Keir Starmer has said.

    >But the prime minister said the UK had learned lessons from the “mistakes of Iraq”, and was not involved in the initial strikes on Iran and “will not join offensive action now”.

    >Sir Keir said the basis of the decision to accept the US request was the “collective self-defence” of allies and protecting British lives, accusing Iran of pursuing a “scorched-earth strategy”.

    I’m tired boss.

  2. Its worth noting that this is after Iran has targetted UK bases. Say what you like but no government is going to let another country attack them and not do something about it.

    Good.

So many Iranians want Western help. They would be glad to shrug off an evil dictatorship which has killed enormous numbers of Iranians.

Although you’d never have guessed from the little protest in London, attended by the deputy boss of the Green party – and Corbyn. Protesting in defence of the mullahs, not the oppressed masses.

The amount of Iran apologists here is crazy. Iran bombed a bunched on countries not involved (some of straight up friendly to Iran, like Qatar), it hit a French base, it hit a british base.. INSIDE AN EU COUNTRY.

Fuck the genocidal islamofascist freaks in Iran and all the people running interference for them.

  5. The IRGC bots are going absolutely insane the last day or two. They’re all over the comments.

Europe loves assisting in Americas imperialism so that more refugees go to Europe.

Non-reactionary perspective: This is probably the right call.

Starmer denied use of military bases in what is almost certainly an unlawful attack on Iran, in international legal terms.

In response to that attack, Iran has been extremely reckless and non-discriminatory in their retaliation. They’ve struck civilian targets, military targets from non-declared countries, and disrupted the entire global economy. They have also used force against UK bases.

It’s true to say that that reaction was entirely predictable. It’s also true to say that those third nations (which includes the UK) who have been subjected to force have every right to defend themselves, regardless of the unlawfulness of the US’ initial attack.

It’s hard to see what Starmer could have done better with the information he had at the time at each stage of this. The big surprise, frankly, is why Iran’s response has been such a whopping and likely fatal own goal.

  8. The UK supported Midnight Hammer to the extent of not objecting to US air bases being used for F-22s, it’s really even less of a surprise now after attacks on UK forces.
Once a nation has allowed another nation to base offensive forces on their land, it’s pretty hard to put that dog back on a leash. Even if they wanted to.

  9. Very strange the people that are mad at this. It seems they would rather the UK do nothing after getting attacked by Iran.

Damn. It’s too bad according to Fox News and such, nobody is ever helping us, even when we start a conflict for no reason whatsoever. Those darn useless euros, relying on spending billions on American weaponry to defend themselves >:((((((
