Gabriela Popescu is the new Country Manager for Microsoft Romania, Moldova, and CIS, effective March 1, the company has announced.

Gabriela brings expertise in legal affairs, business, and technology. She joined Microsoft Romania in 2017 and most recently served as interim general director, alongside her role overseeing corporate, external, and legal affairs for Central Europe. In these positions, she supported Microsoft’s operations and strategic initiatives across the region.

“Microsoft has exceptional talent and growing digital ambition, and we will continue to invest, collaborate, and support this journey with reliable, secure, and responsible technology.
This year, marking 30 years of Microsoft’s presence in Romania, this commitment is stronger than ever. In my new role, I look forward to working closely with customers, partners, and public institutions to help organisations harness cloud and AI technologies in ways that deliver real value, build resilience, and drive sustainable economic growth. Digital transformation is not just about technology. It is about trust, skills, and long-term partnerships, and this is the approach Microsoft is taking today and will continue in the years ahead,” said Gabriela Popescu.

Under her leadership, Microsoft will uphold its long-term commitments to Romania, drawing on decades of local presence and partnerships with public and private sectors. These include supporting Romania’s digital transformation agenda, accelerating responsible AI adoption in line with European values and regulations, and strengthening digital skills and local innovation ecosystems.
