On Friday, Lion Ceccah’s “Solo Quiero Mas” won the final of the national selection held at Twinsbet Arena in Vilnius. The event was broadcast live by LRT.
The Lithuanian singer will perform in the first semi-final on 12 May in Vienna. If successful, “Solo Quiero Mas” will be performed again at the grand final on 16 May.
Ten other acts competed in the national final, Eurovizija.lt: Rug!le, Walls of Water, Nøra Blu, Noy, Atikin, SHWR, Vilnius Voices, Lolita Zero, Paulè and Black Biceps.
Last year, Katarsis finished 16th at the contest held in Basel. Austrian singer JJ won with “Wasted Love”.
The Eurovision Song Contest has been held annually since 1956. Lithuania first took part in 1994, when Ovidijus Vyšniauskas finished last with his ballad “Lopšinė Mylimai” (“A Lullaby for the Lover”).
Lithuania’s best result to date came in 2006, when LT United placed sixth in the grand final with the song “We Are The Winners”.
