He wrote to a friend that he wanted to rape an ostrich. He brutally tortured the animal.

He was in his homestead, where he felt safe, when Łukasz Sz. A man brutally beat an ostrich from "Trapperska Osada" near Poznań. Zenek did not survive this attack. The 37-year-old has just heard the verdict. This was not his only crime. The punishment is more severe than the prosecutor’s office demanded.

"I’m the first guy in Poland to knock down an ostrich. They talk and write about me all over Poland so far, and the video from the phone will beat everything" – this is how Łukasz Sz. wrote about himself to the second defendant in this case, who is still waiting for his trial.

The prosecutor’s office accused him of 21 crimes, including the abuse of the ostrich Zenek from the "Trapper Settlement" near Poznań. The animal tortured by Sz. did not survive. As indicated by the Viva! Foundation, the disclosed correspondence of the defendant shows that he went to the pen with the intention of raping an ostrich.

Other crimes charged against the man include possession of significant amounts of drugs, drug trafficking, destruction of property and criminal threats, among m.in others. During the trial, Sz. pleaded not guilty to only one charge – setting fire to hay.
