Indian equestrian Anush Agarwalla made a notable international debut at the Belgium Dressage Events with his horse Floriana, beginning his qualification campaign for the upcoming Asian Games.

Competing against an experienced international field, Anush first competed on February 28, 2026, with his 8-year-old horse, Floriana. Starting 14th, he achieved a confident 68.85% score, finishing fourth overall. This performance demonstrated harmony and precision despite it being his first international outing.

On March 1, 2026, he returned to the arena riding his 10-year-old gelding, Flynn. Starting fifth, Anush delivered an improved performance, earning an individual score of 70.3%. Surpassing the 70% mark in his debut series highlighted his consistency and composure under pressure.

The Belgium Dressage Events are an important part of Anush’s Asian Games qualification process, with two further qualification opportunities remaining before the continental competition.

Commenting on his debut, Anush said: “Making my international debut here in Belgium with Floriana has been a proud and defining moment for me. The level of competition is extremely high, and it pushes you to be sharper in every movement and transition. I’m very pleased with how Floriana and Flynn responded — they were focused, expressive, and gave me their full trust in the arena. We are building toward something bigger with the Asian Games in mind, and this is an important step in that in that journey.”

Fellow Indian rider Shruti Vora also participated in the series, with Anush achieving a higher score in the same leg of the competition.

With two qualification events still to come, Anush’s strong start in Belgium indicates positive momentum. As he continues to hone his performances on the European circuit, he remains focused on securing his place to represent India at one of Asia’s major sporting events.
