Considering like a month or so ago Trump and his Cabal spat on our war dead they can fuck right off.

People keep going on about a ‘Love Actually’ moment, but these little steps away from Trump and the little digs (he mentioned that bombing Iran to shit won’t result in regime change) is basically that.

  3. I have to admit, Starmer has struck a good balance between supporting US (which is inevitable after Brexit) and keeping UK out of another damaging war

  4. Very middle of the road, I don’t think he did a bad job but he did it insuch a lowkey way everyone from all sides will likely use it as a call to arms/disarms.

Good man. This is the correct thing to do.

We shouldn’t be joining in this, the US and Israel are spitting on international law. The Iranian government are shitbags but you can’t just abruptly start wars based on false pretences with anyone you don’t like (actually, history says you probably can but we shouldn’t)

  6. The main thing I don’t like is his allowing the US to use our bases. I would prefer that we defend our own assets/people independently so we don’t get targeted by association. Not particularly clear on the feasibility of that position though, and what the expectations from non US allies were

Holy doublethink Batman. He just said at the dispatch box that it was necessary to support the attacks to destroy Iranian launchers “defensively.” So:

    1. Start a war.

    2. Explain that you’re the victims of retaliation.

    3. Now you’re fighting a “defensive” war.

    4. Allies join the “defensive war” while uttering empty phrases about international law.

It’s the kind of thing we used to lambast Putin for.

  8. Yeah, this is fine, the problem is him then telling the US they could use our bases to hit things inside Iran after all

Just had LBC on, they have had a mix of right wing commentators and ex ministers on… why are they so desperate to go bomb some brown people? Or have I answered my own question?

P.s are there sons first in line to go in?
P.s.s where was this desperation when it comes to Russia?

  10. Does allowing the US to use British bases to strike Iran not count as ‘involve’ then?

  11. He’s pretending we’re not involved, when our bases are being used to destroy Iranian missle sites, and the press are buying that blatant lie?

  12. 1-randomonium on

Good. So permission to use the bases aside he still has a red line about not involving us here.

  13. I’m glad he’s shown a spine for once. I’m not a fan of his, but I’m glad we have him in power right now rather than Badenoch or Farage. They’d have us join in on the bombing.

We should have no part in this war other than to defend ourselves, civilians and our allies in the area.

  14. Not involved but our joint statement with France said we may carry out strikes on Iranian launch sites and we are letting the yanks sortie from our bases.

I’m glad he’s not just fully up Trump’s arsehole like reform, but seems like either labour still has a comms problem or is trying to appease as many people with confusing policy

    100% correct choice.

Attacking Iran is a violation of international law and while America and Israel might not care about legality it’s refreshing to see us not being in America’s pocket as is sometimes assumed.

Hope to see us standing up to America more in future when they take actions like this.
