Considering the nukes in Kaliningrad and Belarus, I think they deserve them since yesterday

1 move and France can become our favourite country.

PiS will no doubt spin this as anti-EU, forgetting they desperately begged the US to do it and were denied

On the whole, it is perhaps better than France will be in general control of the nuclear deterrent. They have, if anything, shown a constant belligerence in the post war era towards the US whenever European sovereignty is concerned. Better that than 5-6 new states with their own nuclear arsenals and doctrines in an ever changing political landscape and world.

nuclear umbrella sounds way cooler than sharing an actual umbrella

The EU needs a full nuclear umbrella, strong enough that Russia and China wouldn’t dare make a move even if the US stays on the sidelines.
It really needs to be a much larger initiative than the handful of countries that have decided to work with France.
