Got a phone call from Subway "head office". Somewhere in The Valley apparently? They said thanks for calling the store to offer it back to them, but I can keep it. They added that they will be reviewing training procedures. I feel bad now for calling the store to offer it back to them. I told them there was no harm done and that I hope nobody gets fired!! They also asked if I could participate in a feedback surv3y for the sauce offerings. Apparently they're going to introduce some new sauces soon, or are trialling some new ones.
Also, people were saying it is probably a Victorinox knife. These are the only markings I could find on it. One says "alfi" and the other "NSF".

I wonder why you can’t give it back? Maybe just in case you might have damaged it (ie broke the handle so the next time it’s used it breaks and hurts someone)? Must just be easier for their books to put it down as discarded. That or a free knife for your troubles.
They should give you a gift card, tbh.
