As their men’s team chases a spot in this summer’s 2026 FIFA World Cup, Denmark is hoping to recapture some of the glory from 40 years ago with their new home kits, made by Hummel.

The Dansk Boldspil-Union (DBU) launched the new kits on their website and social media channels on Wednesday, March 4, and the men’s team will wear them at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen later this month when they participate in the UEFA Path D qualification playoffs.

Inspired by the kits Denmark wore in the first FIFA World Cup they qualified for in 1986, the predominantly red kits “is designed with one clear ambition: to unite the players who wear it on the pitch with all the amazing fans who support the men’s national team through thick and thin,” according to the DBU’s website (translated to English by Google). “The roles may be different, but the dreams are the same.”

“The new jersey symbolizes everything that the national team stands for. When the players run onto the field in these colors, they carry the dreams of all of Denmark on their shoulders. The players love playing for the national team, and are always proud to represent Denmark and millions of Danes, and I know that they will do everything to win every time and unite the Danes around the team.”

The red base features broad tonal vertical stripes woven into the fabric on the front and back of the kit. White piping runs down the seam of the raglan sleeves, from the collar to the underarm on both the front and back. A white pinstripe runs through both the red V-neck collar and the red sleeve cuffs, though a vertical stripe on the back of the collar creates a Danish flag there.

A white insert appears at the front of the collar, while white Hummel chevrons sit on the shoulders. The DBU logo sits in the middle of the chest, with a Hummel wordmark underneath. A white band inside the collar has “FOR DANMARK” printed in red.

Alongside the outfield kits, the DBU also launched three goalkeeper jerseys on Wednesday: yellow with navy blue accents; green with white accents; and dark grey with pink accents. Unlike the outfield kits, though, the DBU logo sits on the left chest, with a full Hummel logo on the right side.

In the announcement on its website, the DBU says a new away kit will “will be announced in the days
leading up to the match in either the Czech Republic or Ireland on March 31.”

Denmark will play North Macedonia in Copenhagen on March 26, with the winner going on to face either the Czech Republic and Ireland in the UEFA Path D final on March 31 for a spot in the World Cup. The winner will slot into Group A with co-hosts Mexico, South Africa and South Korea.
