Firefighters will be working non-stop this weekend. And it’s not even about the abnormal heat or dry grass – it’s about people who are confident that nothing will happen to them. Usually it all ends the same way: either with a call to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, or with a skin transplant at a burn center, or with news in a crime report about a burnt-out dacha area.
The problem isn’t even that people don’t know the rules. They know them, but they sincerely believe that the fire happens to a neighbor, to a fool, to someone who fell asleep drunk last night with a cigarette. But the fire does not look at the passport and does not check the IQ. All he needs is one spark falling into dry grass, one gust of wind, one drop of fat falling past the barbecue.
And yes, about ignition separately. Every spring there are people who burn their hands in the spring or summer due to choosing the wrong lighter fluid. Gasoline, kerosene, old lighter fluid – this is not about the speed of fire, it is about an instant flash of vapor. You won’t even have time to twitch.
Before you light a fire today, just stop for a second and look around: where the car is, where the children are playing, where the wind is blowing, is there water nearby and a phone in your pocket in time to dial 112. Barbecue is delicious, but not a single piece of meat is worth a burned house or someone’s life.
