Terrible, glad she was jailed. Security guard is not the correct job for a man like that.

  2. Wonder how many previous convictions she has, also if we’re going to blame her addictions, I assume she’s engaging in treatment programmes willingly and would pass a drugs test?

If addiction is a factor in a crime it needs to be a rule that you can’t be eligible for parole or any early release/licence without engaging with programmes and passing drugs tests.

I don’t understand why our society is becoming so out for blood.

Yes a man died, but was she the actual cause? No.

It’s weird to give her such a massive prison sentence.

I’ve seen a guy struggle and throw down a security guard before because of his addiction, guard was fine and that man now is clean and a good person.

It’s like a fight, if you engage in one, remember that from a misplaced punch or a fall can cause your death, doesn’t mean the bloke is tryna kill you.

I mean when you look at the circumstances, it’s fair to say she’s unlucky this wasn’t just a theft and common assault charge. The bloke had a heart attack. Should she be jailed? Certainly. Should the sentence be increased to reflect the level of harm, even if that harm wasn’t strictly her fault. Definitely. Is 4 years absurdly lenient like some people seem to be suggesting? Absolutely not.

How the fuck is a man’s life only worth 5 years? Every time I see these sentences, it’s like they’re begging for a revolution and for them to be torn limb from limb in the streets. I don’t understand why else you’d shit on people this much. How is a person’s brother, father, son, husband, worth only 5 years???? What the actual fuck. Needs to be 25 for manslaughter in cases such as these (doing something wrong where physical confrontation was to be expected, chance to avoid physical confrontation by complying, chose to pursue violence instead – someone dies). Needs to be manslaughter where death can be a potential outcome. Such a sentence needs to carry 25 years.

what are you guys on about have you seen the body cam she barely touched him before he hit the ground i agree she should get jail time but she definitely should not be culpable for his death he chose to become a security guard even when he knew how stressful it can be imo she should not be held liable or culpable at all this country has gone to shit

  7. Ok hear me out…he died of a massive heart attack brought on by an undiagnosed artery condition triggered by stress. He was in the wrong job.

Shoplifters are scum. But she didn’t cause this really. She needs a better lawyer.

Seems like no one read the article? The deceased slipped and fell while trying to stop her. It’s still her fault but it’s on the lower end of culpability.

That why you let them walk out with a fridge if they want I tell my partner not to try and stop them it’s not her. Stuff

Five years and four months is an incredible lenient sentence. This woman would likely have got a longer sentence if she was a man.

Unfortunately, there are people that think this woman is a victim and that’s why she needed to shoplift.

  12. > Smith could be heard swearing at the victim and saying “who do you think you are Hulk?” as she continued to pull at the bag containing bottles of alcohol which she said she planned to sell to a pub.

Awful woman. I wonder if any action is being taken against the pub that she was planning on selling to. This surely can’t be the first time they’ve bought stolen goods.

I don’t understand how this even went to trial, let alone with a conviction. How do you prove, beyond all reasonable doubt, that this situation specifically cause his heart attack? He had a condition which meant he could have an attack at any moment.
